RIPON, Wis. – The Ripon College men's tennis team lost a 9-0 decision to Wisconsin-Stevens Point Sunday afternoon.
The Red Hawks are now 1-8 on the season.
Ripon pushed the visitors to the brink in numerous matches but came up slightly short. In doubles action,
Caleb Sippel and
CJ Counts dropped an 8-5 match at the No. 1 spot. The dyad of
Austin Stevens and
Ty Rondestvedt fell by an 8-6 count at the No. 2 slot.
Casey Bryant and
Kyle Pelzek lost an 8-2 match at No. 3.
In singles action, Sippel played extra points at No. 1. He lost the decision 6-4, 7-6 (8). At No. 2, Counts had his foe on the ropes but lost a 6-2, 7-5 match.
In arguably the best match of the day, Stevens came up just short. He won the first set 6-3 before falling 6-3, 13-11 at the No. 3 position.
Rondestvedt fell 6-, 6-2 at No. 4. Playing at No. 5, Bryant lost 7-6 (2), 6-2.
Jack Ives dropped a 6-0, 6-0 decision at No. 6 singles.
The Red Hawks return to action Sunday, March 5, at Edgewood College.
