MADISON, Wis. – The Ripon College men's tennis team cruised to an 8-1 win at Edgewood Sunday afternoon.
The Red Hawks are now 2-8 on the season.
In doubles action, the visitors took a commanding 3-0 lead. The dyad of
Drew Jorgensen and
Caleb Sippel combined for an 8-5 win at the No. 1 spot. The tandem of
CJ Counts and
Ty Rondestvedt breezed through an 8-1 win at the No. 2 spot. The duo of
Casey Bryant and
Kyle Pelzek powered home an 8-2 win at the No. 3 slot.
Turning to singles action, the Red Hawks continued their dominance, winning five of the six matches. Jorgensen picked up a 6-1, 6-2 victory at the No. 1 spot while Sippel did not lose a point in the 6-0, 6-0 sweep at No. 2.
Counts bested his opponent 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 3 position. Rondestvedt saw time at No. 5 singles and won an emphatic 6-0, 6-0 match. Bryant played the No. 6 spot and also won by a 6-0, 6-0 count.
The Red Hawks return to action Saturday, Apr. 8 when they host Monmouth (Ill.) at 9 a.m., before entertaining Illinois College at 2:30 p.m.
