RIPON, Wis. – The Ripon College men's tennis team put together a strong performance but lost a 7-2 decision to Wisconsin Lutheran Saturday.
The Red Hawks are now 0-6 on the season.
The tandem of
Ty Rondestvedt and
Austin Stevens garnered a hard-fought 8-7 win at the No. 2 doubles slot, helping the home team pick up a point. Top-seeded
CJ Counts and
Caleb Sippel lost an 8-5 decision.
Counts lost 4-6, 6-2, 6-10 at the No. 1 singles position. Sippel, seeing time at No. 2, fell by a 7-6, 6-3 count.
Stevens went undefeated on the day, picking up a 2-6, 6-3, 10-5 win at the No. 3 slot. Rondestvedt pushed his opposition to the brink at No. 4 but came up short, 6-7, 2-7.
Casey Bryant (No. 5) and
Jack Ives (No. 6) lost by identical 6-3, 6-1 scores.
The Red Hawks return to action this afternoon when they host Wartburg at 3 p.m.
