RIPON, Wis. – The Ripon men's swimming team hosted its first meet of 2023 on Saturday but came up short against UW-Oshkosh at Kohler Pool. Junior
Brigham Freeman highlighted the day for the Red Hawks, coming up with a pair of event wins.
Freeman, a native of Appleton, came away with an individual crown and five team points in the 500 free, doing so with a time of 5:17.84, more than 20 seconds ahead of second place. Freeman went on to add a first-place time of 55.11 in the 100 fly, while freshman teammate
Cooper Herr gave Ripon a 1-2 finish at 57.64.
Over in the 200 IM, sophomore
Ben Rahlf turned in a time of 2:07.69 to win the event, while junior
Ben Chambers picked up the 50 free title after turning in a performance of 22.78. Despite the strong Ripon performances, UW-Oshkosh closed out the day with a total team advantage of 129-66.
The Red Hawks are back in the pool on Feb. 17, when they head to the Midwest Conference Championships in Grinnell, Iowa.
