MEQUON, Wis. – The Ripon softball team hit the road for a doubleheader against 20th-ranked Concordia on Friday, falling in both games. The Falcons took the opener by a final of 11-0 before closing out the day with an 8-0 victory.
 
The Red Hawk offense was held in check in Friday's opener, with Abby Gilbertson and Arianna Alirez collecting a double apiece to highlight the Ripon effort. Gilbertson's fourth-inning hit marked the 15th consecutive game in which she has reached base safely to begin the season, while Alirez' was her first extra-base hit of the year.
 
Gilbertson provided all the offense for the Red Hawks in the nightcap, coming away with a pair of singles to move her streak to an even 16 games. The doubleheader sweep improves the Falcons to 11-3 on the season, and they have now won four of their last five games.
 
With Saturday's twin bill against Marian already postponed due to inclement weather, the Red Hawks now turn their focus to Tuesday's home opener. First pitch of the doubleheader from Tracy Field is slated for 3:00 p.m.
