JACKSON, Wis. – The Ripon College men's tennis team lost a 6-3 decision to Wisconsin Lutheran Friday afternoon.
The Red Hawks are now 3-9 on the season.
Head coach
Steve Burns' team held a 2-1 lead exiting doubles competition. Top-seeded
Drew Jorgensen and
Caleb Sippel combined for an 8-6 victory.
CJ Counts and
Ty Rondestvedt, playing at the No. 2 slot, took an 8-7 (7-5) victory.
Austin Stevens and
Jack Ives fell by an 8-4 count at the No. 3 position.
Ripon College played two three-set matches in singles action, going 1-1. Stevens fell in a marathon match at the No. 4 spot. He lost by a score of 7-5, 6-7 (5-7), 12-14.
Sippel won his three-set match at No. 2 by a score of 7-6 (7-2), 4-6, 10-4.
Casey Bryant pushed his foe to extra points at No. 6. He lost a 6-0, 7-5 match.
The Red Hawks return to action Saturday, Apr. 8 against Monmouth (Ill.) and Illinois College. The first match of the day starts at 9 a.m., followed by a 2:30 p.m., contest.
