WHITEWATER, Wis.- The Ripon College baseball team dropped an 11-1 loss on the road against the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater this afternoon. Ripon falls to 10-11 on the season while UW-Whitewater moves to 15-4 on the year.
The Warhawks broke the game open in the bottom of the second when they plated six runs on five hits and a leadoff home run to take a 6-0 lead. UWW never looked back from there as they pushed another three runs across in the bottom of the fifth and run in the sixth to go up, 10-0.
Ripon scored its only run in the top of the seventh using a pair of walks, a fielder's choice, and a single to make it, 10-1.
UWW added the game's final run in its half of the seventh to win 11-1.
Remington Cox,
Cormac Madigan, and
Cam Stampfl each tallied a hit while Cox drove in an RBI.
Starting pitcher
Robbie Roguszka took the loss (2-1) while throwing 1.2 innings allowing five hits and six runs (all earned).
The Red Hawks are back on the road tomorrow when they travel to conference rival Lawrence and look to sweep the season series. First pitch is set for 1 pm.
