GRINNELL, Iowa – The Ripon College men's tennis team lost a 9-0 contest at Grinnell Saturday morning in a league contest.
The Red Hawks are now 5-10 overall and 2-1 in league action.
Ripon lost a pair of hard-fought matches in doubles action. Top-seeded
Drew Jorgensen and
Caleb Sippel lost an 8-6 contest. At the No. 2 slot,
CJ Counts and
Ty Rondestvedt dropped an 8-4 match.
In singles action, Jorgensen lost a 6-1, 6-2 match. Second-seeded Sippel lost a 6-0, -60 match.
Playing at the No. 3 slot, Counts pushed his foe to extra points in the first set before losing 7-5, 6-2. Rondestvedt was the only other student-athlete to take a game in a match for the visitors. He lost a 6-1, 6-0 decision.
The Red Hawks return to action Saturday afternoon at Cornell (Iowa) at 2:30 p.m.
