PEORIA, Ill. – The No. 4 Ripon College men's tennis team lost a 5-0 decision to top-seeded Grinnell Friday afternoon in the MWC semifinals.
The Red Hawks fall to 6-13 on the season while Grinnell stands at 16-7.
Head coach
Steve Burns' team put forth a solid effort in the semifinal contest. In singles action,
Drew Jorgensen and
Caleb Sippel lost a hard-fought 8-5 decision at the No. 1 doubles spot.
CJ Counts and
Ty Rondestvedt lost an 8-1 contest at No. 2 while
Jack Ives and
Austin Stevens fell by an 8-0 count at the No. 3 position.
Sippel and his counterpart played at the No. 2 singles position. Sippell lost a 6-1, 6-0 match while Rondestvedt dropped his match at No. 5 singels 6-0, 6-0.
The Red Hawks return to action tomorrow in the MWC Men's Tennis Individual Tournament starting at 9 a.m.
