RIPON, Wis. – The Ripon College men's tennis team recorded its second consecutive shutout with a 9-0 win over Illinois College Saturday afternoon.
The Red Hawks are now 5-9 on the season, including 2-0 in MWC play.
Ripon College started the match with three wins in doubles action. Top-seeded
Drew Jorgensen and
Caleb Sippel notched an 8-1 victory.
CJ Counts and ty Rondestvedt combined for an 8-4 win at the No. 2 slot while
Casey Bryant and
Kyle Pelzek garnered an 8-2 win at No. 3.
Jorgensen was pushed at the top spot in singles action. However, he still notched a 6-3, 7-5 victory.
Sippel cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 victory at the No. 2 spot while Counts was up 6-2 before playing to a 5-5 score in the second stanza. His opponent retired, giving Counts the win.
Austin Stevens accounted for a 6-1, 6-0 win at the No. 4 spot. Rondestvedt netted a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 5 singles while Bryant posted a 6-1, 6-1 victory at the No. 6 slot.
The Red Hawks return to action Saturday, Apr. 15 when they square off against Grinnell at 9 a.m., and Cornell (Iowa) at 2:30 p.m.
