GREENWOOD, Ind. – College Sports Communicators announced the full list of 2023 Academic All-District honorees for softball this week, with four Ripon players garnering recognition. The organization, formerly known as CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
 
All-Conference first baseman Abby Gilbertson and infielder Anna Bauer joined utility players Kalen Berger and Brennah Bronk on the Academic All-District Team following Ripon's best season since 2018.
 
Gilbertson, a senior sport management major from Marquette, hit .397 this spring with 10 doubles and 24 runs driven in as one of the most consistent bats in the Red Hawk order. The Ripon first baseman finished the year fifth on the Midwest Conference leaderboard with 46 hits and ninth in the league in total bases with 62.
 
A native of Tujunga, Calif., psychology major Brennah Bronk was one of just four Red Hawks to play in a program-record 38 games this season, tying for the team lead in home runs and making 20 appearances in the circle. Additionally, the Ripon senior was the only player in the Midwest Conference to record at least 30 hits at the plate and five wins as a pitcher.
 
Bauer, a psychology major from Kaukauna, wrapped up her junior season in second on the team leaderboard in RBI behind only Gilbertson. She was also second on the team with multi-RBI performances, with the biggest one coming on March 12, when she picked up two hits and drove in three runs to help lift Ripon to a 7-5 win.
 
A politics and government major from Dunbar, Berger served as the anchor of the Ripon pitching staff. The sophomore led the Red Hawks in wins, innings pitched, strikeouts and appearances in 2023, and her 13 complete games ranked second in the MWC.
