DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Ripon swim and dive programs opened a new era on Saturday at San Jose Pool as the Red Hawks kicked off their 2024-25 seasons against Loras.
Saturday marked Ripon's first competition under new head coach
Grace Carlson, and the Red Hawks battled all afternoon in their first meet of the season against stiff competition from the American Rivers Conference.
The women's 200 medley relay team kicked off the meet with a first-place finish, as
Lauren Bahr,
Sophie Czerwonka,
Anna Bose and
Natalie Weidner crossed the finish line first in 2:04.07. Czerwonka also had a pair of first place finishes individually: the 200 IM (2:27.99) and the 100 backstroke (1:05.25).
Sky Domingo collected Ripon's fourth top finish of the day, pacing the 100 breaststroke field in 1:19.08.
Additionally, the Red Hawk women collected four second-place marks to highlight their time in Dubuque (200 free relay, 500 free, 200 free and 1000 free).
On the men's side,
Cooper Herr was the top finisher in the 500 free, earning a time of 5:32.87. He also was the second finisher in the 100 breast with a time of 1:09.35.
Miki Canak took second in the 50 free (26.03) and the 100 free (1:01.79), while
Ben Rahlf was the runner-up in the 200 free (2:01.52) and the 100 fly (57.52).
The women lost to Loras 118-84, while the men were defeated 114-52.
