RIPON, Wisconsin – After helping secure a Ripon win on Homecoming, linebacker Zane Vetter of the Ripon football program has been named the Midwest Conference Defensive Performer of the Week as announced by the league on Monday afternoon.
 
Vetter came up with the game-winning interception for Ripon on Saturday in the Red Hawks' 24-17 Homecoming win over Knox. With Knox driving near midfield with two and a half minutes left in the game, Vetter stepped in front of Anthony Vazquez's pass for the sophomore's first career interception. Vetter added three tackles on Saturday, his fifth game this season with at least three solo tackles.
 
This is the first career weekly award for the sophomore, and Ripon's second MWC Defensive Performer of the Week accolade this season. Senior linebacker Clay Ritschard was previously recognized on September 16.
 
Ripon hosts the University of Chicago on Saturday, October 19. Kickoff from Hopp Stadium is set for 1 p.m.
