BELOIT, Wisconsin – The Ripon swim and dive programs wrapped the 2024 competition schedule on Friday and Saturday, racing in the Beloit Mid-Season Meet hosted by the Buccaneers inside the Robert G. Nicholls Natatorium.
Facing three Midwest Conference schools (Beloit, Monmouth, Illinois College), the Ripon women took second and the men took third.
Ripon was represented well in both Friday and Saturday evening's "A" finals sessions, and came away with a number of first-place finishes.
On Friday night,
Sky Domingo won the women's 500 free in 5:30.11, while the women's 200 free relay team of Domingo,
Lauren Bahr,
Kennedy Moore and
Natalie Weidner clocked in at 1:44.86 to also take first. On the men's side,
Ben Rahlf (200 IM, 2:06.27) and
Cooper Herr (500 free, 5:07.58) also notched individual victories in their respective "A" finals.
Ripon also earned top-three finishes in the women's 200 breast (
Sophie Czerwonka - 2:36.89), women's 100 free (Weidner - 56.99), men's 100 free (Herr - 49.63), women's 200 IM (Czerwonka - 2:25.12), women's 500 free (Weidner - 5:43.18), women's 400 medley relay (Czerwonka, Domingo, Weidner,
Kiarra Kahl - 4:26.95) and the women's 1-meter diving competition (
Mary Elliot - 250.05, third all-time at Ripon).
On Saturday night, Rahlf and Domingo both earned more first-place finishes. Rahlf won the 200 fly in 2:06.37, while Domingo paced the 200 free field in 2:05.91.
Ripon produced a number of other top-three finishers in Saturday's "A" finals. The women's 200 medley relay quartet of Bahr, Kahl, Weidner and
Lillian McGuire took second with a time of 1:56.13, while
Grace McCrery placed third in the 400 IM (5:16.94, fourth all-time at Ripon). Bahr was third in the 50 free (25.64) and 100 back (1:04.80) and Weidner placed second in the women's 200 free (2:06.96). Bahr's 50 free prelim time of 25.52 is the fifth-fastest 50 free time in program history. Herr turned in a runner-up finish in the men's 200 free, finishing in 1:49.25.
Anna Bose was third in the women's 200 fly (2:44.48) and Domingo took third in the 1650 free with a time of 19:42.45 to wrap up Ripon's individual top-three finishes.
Ripon closed the weekend with two more top-three relay finishes. The women's 400 free relay team of Weidner, Domingo, Czerwonka and Bahr took second in 3:51.22 and the men's 400 free relay team of Herr, Rahlf,
Miki Canak and
Sean Rath also placed second in 3:35.96.
UP NEXT: Ripon returns to the pool on Saturday, January 25 for a double dual meet at St. Norbert. Beginning at 1 p.m., the Red Hawks will square off against the host Green Knights and MSOE.
