MADISON, Wisconsin – Competing in its culminating postseason event, the Ripon men's tennis program began the Midwest Conference Individual Tennis Tournament on Saturday at the Nielsen Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Wisconsin.
 
Though all six Red Hawks were defeated in the singles quarterfinals, five Ripon representatives will compete in the singles consolation finals on Sunday. Ty Rondestvedt was an 8-2 winner in a consolation semifinal on the third line over his Monmouth counterpart, while Jaden Francis defeated his Monmouth opponent 8-5 in a consolation semi on court four to punch their tickets to Sunday's consolation finals.
 
Caleb Sippel, Austin Stevens and Kyle Pelzek all earned byes into Sunday's consolation finals after their opening matches on Saturday.
 
In doubles, Rondestvedt and Francis teamed up for an 8-1 win on court two over their Illinois College counterparts. They will compete in the doubles semis against top-seeded Grinnell on Sunday, while Ripon's doubles pairs on courts one and three will play in the consolation finals.
