RIPON, Wis. -- Six members of the Ripon College men's and women's tennis programs have been named Academic All-District by College Sports Communicators, as announced today.
Caleb Sippel and Kyle Flook of the men's tennis team, along with senior Catherine Skoglund, Josie Rondestvedt, Allison Pavlovec and Jessi Griepentrog from the women's tennis team, were all recognized for their achievements both academically and athletically.
To be eligible for Academic All-District honors, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher while meeting College Sports Communicators' participation requirements for their sport.
Sippel, a senior biology and exercise science major from Appleton, Wisconsin, earned the honor for the Red Hawks after a strong season on the court. A graduate of Appleton North High School, Sippel also earned All-Conference recognition this season, adding Academic All-District honors to a standout senior campaign.
Flook, a sophomore athletic training and human performance major from Sheboygan, Wisconsin, also represented the men's tennis program on the Academic All-District list. A graduate of Sheboygan South High School, Flook earned the recognition for his work in the classroom and his contributions to the Red Hawks throughout the season.
On the women's side, Skoglund, a senior finance and economics major from Roberts, Wisconsin, was honored for her academic success and contributions to the Red Hawks. A graduate of St. Croix Central High School, Skoglund closed out her senior season with Academic All-District recognition.
Rondestvedt, a sophomore from Altoona, Wisconsin, also earned Academic All-District honors for the women's tennis program. A graduate of Altoona High School, Rondestvedt was recognized for her achievements both academically and athletically during her sophomore campaign.
Pavlovec, a senior political science and history major from Decorah, Iowa, added to the women's tennis program's representation on the list. A graduate of Decorah High School, Pavlovec earned the honor following a strong career of dedication in the classroom and on the court.
Griepentrog, a junior biology major from Freedom, Wisconsin, was also named Academic All-District. A graduate of Fox Valley Lutheran High School, Griepentrog earned the recognition for her continued success as a student-athlete for the Red Hawks.
The Ripon men's tennis team finished the season with a 4-22 overall record and an 0-6 mark in Midwest Conference play, while the women's tennis team finished 10-15 overall and 1-5 in conference action.
Overall, Ripon's six Academic All-District selections reflect the continued commitment of the men's and women's tennis programs to excellence in both academics and athletics.
