Both Soccer Programs Receive Team Academic Awards

RIPON, Wisconsin – After successful seasons both on the pitch and in the classroom, the Ripon men's and women's soccer programs received College Team Academic Awards as announced by the United Soccer Coaches on Thursday morning.

To be eligible, a team must be a registered College Services member and have a minimum composite GPA of 3.00 (on a 4.00 scale) for all team members listed on their official 2023-24 academic year roster.

Individually, Juliana Garcia, Alexis Piette, McKenzie Wiesner, Jacob Oppeneer, Connor Reiner and Kaleb Schroeder all received Academic All-District laurels from the College Sports Communicators back in November.

The Ripon women finished the 2023 season 8-6-3 overall and 2-5-1 in MWC play. The Red Hawks broke a school record for single-season shutouts, accumulating nine in 2023. Ripon only gave up 13 goals all season, also tying a school record for the fewest goals allowed in a season. Andreanna Wilke was named a second-team All-Midwest Conference performer after tying a school record with seven complete-game shutouts in a single season. The Red Hawks open the 2024 slate on Friday, August 30 with a road match at Great Lakes Christian College.

The Red Hawk men finished the 2023 season 6-4-7 overall and 1-3-4 in Midwest Conference play. Ripon had the best defensive record in the MWC this season while giving up its fewest amount of goals since 2000. The Red Hawks also had their least amount of losses since 2000 while achieving their highest win percentage since 2010. The 2024 campaign begins with a match at Wisconsin Lutheran on Friday, August 30 at 7 p.m.
