Match Recap: Men's Tennis |

Men's Tennis Opens 2024-25 Campaign at UW-Stevens Point

STEVENS POINT, Wisconsin – The Ripon men's tennis program kicked off its 2024-25 season on Thursday, falling 6-1 at UW-Stevens Point.

New to Division III college tennis in 2024-25 is a significant rule change – instead of nine points being available in a match, Division III has transitioned to Division I and Division II scoring, meaning only seven points are now available. Therefore, the three doubles matches are only worth one point, going to the team that takes two of three in doubles. Four, instead of five, is now the magic number needed to win a match.

Ripon (0-1) was in an early 1-0 hole to Stevens Point (2-0) after the Pointers won the doubles point and swept all three courts.

In singles, Point collected wins on five of six courts in straight sets, though Corey Mooney recorded a three-set victory on court three for Ripon's lone point of the day.

NEXT UP: Ripon finishes its fall schedule against UW-Superior on Sunday, October 13 for a 10 a.m. match in Nekoosa, Wisconsin.
