Women's Soccer Unable to Catch Coe

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Ripon women's soccer program started a four-game road trip on Saturday afternoon, falling to Coe 1-0 at Clark Field.

In a defensive battle between the schools, Ripon (1-5-2) had a slight 4-3 first half edge in shots over Coe (2-5-1), and the Red Hawks had three times as many shots on goal in the first 45 minutes as the Kohawks (3-1). However, neither team found the back of the net and went into intermission deadlocked at zero.

The hosts got on the board in the 59th minute following a corner kick, scoring the eventual game-winning goal less than 15 minutes into the second half.

The Kohawks had a slight 9-7 advantage in shots over the Red Hawks, though the shots on goal edge for the hosts was just 5-3. Alyssa Klementzos led Ripon with three shots.

Britt Hable and Andreanna Wilke each played a half in goal – Wilke made three saves in the second half, while Hable made one stop in the first half.

UP NEXT: Ripon stays in Iowa for a 12 p.m. match at Buena Vista on Sunday (September 22).
