ROCK ISLAND, Ill. -- Ripon Cross Country posted strong results at one of the most competitive events of the year, the Augustana Interregional Invite. 12 nationally ranked women's teams and 14 nationally ranked men's team competed at the event, with over 62 institutions represented at the meet.
Joley Berger (Dunbar, Wis., Pembine HS) continued her strong sophomore campaign for the Red Hawks, finishing 20th out of over 350 participants in the top Women's Gold race. Her 22.16.7 time was one of her best of the year, with senior teammate
Jenny Cortes (Round Lake, Ill., Round Lake HS) following close behind with a 22.50.0, good for 42nd overall. Junior
Gabby Allard (Appleton, Wis., Kimberly HS) rounded out the Red Hawks' top three, finishing with a time of 24:04.8. For their efforts, Ripon would secure 19th in the top event.
On the men's side, competing as a team in the Blue race, sophomore
Jaxon Hornby (Marshall, Wis., Marshall HS) took Ripon's top finisher spot, clocking a 27:32.8. Freshmen
Finn Lettau (Neenah, Wis., Neenah HS) and
Connor McBride (Queen Creek, Ariz., Basha HS) rounded out the top three for the team, finishing with times of 27:35.7 and 27:51.0, respectively.
The Red Hawks enter the final stretch of their season, competing next at the Midwest Conference Championship, held in Mount Vernon, Iowa on Nov 1.
