GREEN LAKE, Wis. -- The Ripon College cross country program closed out the regular season at home, hosting the Red Hawk Open on Thursday at Tuscumbia Golf Course. The meet served as the final tune-up before regionals, with both teams posting strong performances.
In the women's 6k, freshman Tatum Packard (Moab, Ut., Grand County HS) led the way for the Red Hawks, finishing 11th overall with a time of 27:28.8. Sophomore Sierra LeRoy (Green Bay, Wis., Green Bay West HS) rounded out Ripon's competitors, crossing the line in 31:28.2. The women's race was won by UW–Oshkosh's Ashley Groothoff in 24:27.0.
On the men's side, the Red Hawks turned in a solid team performance, placing second overall behind UW–Oshkosh. Freshman Adam Klemm (Yorkville, Ill., Yorkville HS) led the way for Ripon with a fifth-place finish in 27:46.7, followed closely by freshman Jackson Manley (Peoria, Ill., Limestone Community HS) (27:57.8) in sixth. Freshman Nick Trycha (Machesney Park, Ill., Harlem HS) (28:45.1), freshman Brice Radandt (Two Rivers, Wis., Two Rivers HS) (28:46.7), and freshman Kole Brock (Cypress, Tex., Cypress Ranch HS) (28:53.3) rounded out the scoring five, helping Ripon post a team score of 37 points.
The Red Hawks will return to competition at the NCAA North Regional on Friday, Nov. 15 in Eau Claire, Wis.
