APPLETON, Wis. -- The Ripon College men's and women's swim and dive teams wrapped up competition at the Gene Davis Invitational hosted by Lawrence University on Saturday afternoon. Both Red Hawk squads placed fifth out of six teams in the meet, which featured a competitive field including Lake Forest, UW-Oshkosh, Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE), and host Lawrence.

On the women's side, senior Natalie Weidner (Portage, Wis., Portage HS) led the way with strong swims in the 200-yard freestyle (2:13.14) and 500-yard freestyle (5:57.42), while freshman Peyton Washington (Milwaukee, Wis., Divine Savior Holy Angels) turned in a solid performance in the 50-yard freestyle (27.19) and 100-yard backstroke (1:09.41). Junior Ella Olive (Menominee, Mich., Marinette HS) and sophomore Kiarra Kahl (Monona, Wis., Monona Grove HS) added key points, with Olive placing sixth in the 400-yard IM (5:29.79) and Kahl finishing sixth in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:20.00).

The women's 200-yard medley relay team of Washington, Kahl, junior Lily McGuire (Crystal Lake, Ill., Crystal Lake South HS), and Weidner also impressed, earning third place with a time of 2:03.94.

For the men, senior Cooper Herr (Ashwaubenon, Wis., Ashwaubenon HS) paced Ripon with several top-10 finishes, highlighted by a sixth-place swim in the 500-yard freestyle (5:17.02) and a fourth-place showing in the 100-yard freestyle (49.67). Fellow senior Sean Rath (Glen Ellyn, Ill., Glenbard West HS) contributed valuable points in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:49.49) and the 200-yard IM (2:32.80).

Ripon's men's 200-yard freestyle relay team of Herr, Rath, senior Brendan Kile (Verona, Wis., Verona Area HS), and junior Wil Hargrave (Ripon, Wis., Wisconsin Connections Academy) closed out the day in seventh with a time of 1:40.72.

The Red Hawks will continue their action at the Beloit Midseason Invite starting on Thursday, Nov 20, at 5 pm.
