GRINNELL, Iowa – The Ripon swim and dive programs kicked off the 2025 Midwest Conference Championships on Thursday and Friday inside the Russell K. Osgood Pool with strong times and performances across the board.
The women stand in sixth place after one full day of competition, while the men are in eighth.
A number of Red Hawks qualified for Friday night's finals session: both men's and women's 200 free relay teams,
Sky Domingo (500 free),
Cooper Herr (500 free),
Lauren Bahr (50 free),
Morgan Sullivan (1-meter diving),
Mary Elliot (1-meter diving) and both men's and women's 400 medley relay teams.
Though
Kiarra Kahl did not qualify for the 200 IM finals, her 2:21.70 prelims showing is the fifth-best time in program history.
In Friday night's "B" finals, Herr had a third-place finish in the 500 free with a time of 4:55.66, the third-best men's 500 free time in program history. Domingo's 5:26.75 time in the 500 free was a PR and the third-best time in school history, eclipsing her previous mark set two years ago.
Sixth-place finishers in "B" finals were
Natalie Weidner, Bahr, Domingo and
Kennedy Moore (women's 200 free relay),
Sophie Czerwonka, Kahl,
Lillian McGuire and Bahr (women's 400 medley relay) and Sullivan (1-meter diving).
In the women's 800 free relay – the lone event on Thursday – Ripon's foursome of Kahl, Domingo, Czerwonka and Weidner placed fourth with a time of 8:19.98.
