RIPON, Wisconsin – After solid performances at the St. Norbert College Opener last week,
Ben Fisher and
Jenny Cortes of the Ripon track and field programs have been named Midwest Conference Outdoor Track and Field Performers of the Week as announced by the league on Tuesday afternoon.
Fisher was named the Men's Outdoor Field Performer of the Week, while Cortes was recognized as the Women's Outdoor Track Performer of the Week.
Fisher won the high jump at Thursday's St. Norbert College Opener with a mark of 1.96m, tied
for the 22nd-best mark in Division III so far this outdoor season. Cortes won the 1500 at the same meet, as her time of 4:43.70 is the 43rd-best mark in DIII so far this outdoor season.
This is the second career weekly outdoor award for Fisher, the first for Cortes and the first outdoor honors for Ripon this season.
Ripon heads to Rock Island, Illinois this weekend for the Viking Olympics hosted by Augustana on Saturday, April 5. The meet begins at 10 a.m.
