Women's 4x400 Team Breaks 20-Year School Record at SNC Invitational

DE PERE, Wisconsin – In its penultimate regular season meet of the 2024-25 outdoor season, the Ripon track and field programs headed to Donald J. Schneider Stadium on Saturday for the St. Norbert College Invitational hosted by the Green Knights.
 
Madylyn Woyak, Bridget Finn, Jenny Cortes and Tatum Trudell set a 20-year school record in the 4x400 relay, taking first in the event with a time of 4:00.55. Additionally, they now have the 48th-fastest 4x400 time in all of Division III.
 
On the men's side, the 4x100 crew of Logan Vander Galien, Jacob Davies, Seth Bunders and Jacoby Cefalu nearly set a new school record, but settled for a first-place time of 41.63. They now have the 45th-fastest 4x100 time in Division III this season. Cefalu notched a first-place finish individually as well, pacing the 200 field with a top mark of 21.68.
 
Bunders did well individually on Saturday as well, taking second in the 400 (49.18). Rainier Villanueva also picked up a runner-up finish, doing so in the 800 (1:55.06) for a season-best time.
 
On the women's side, Jenny Cortes impressed in the 800. Her time of 2:16.08 was a season-best and is now the 70th-fastest 800 time in the country. Also earning a first-place finish was Kiki Sherman, who did so in the 3000 steeplechase with a time of 11:38.61. Ximena Juarez Martinez was efficient in distance as well, taking third in the 5K (20:23.04).
 
The 4x100 team of Trudell, Sidney Hoffa, Woyak and Finn took second in 50.36.
 
In field events, Ben Fisher won the high jump with a mark of 1.90m and Dameco Walker produced the sixth-best long jump in the country, winning the event with a mark of 7.23m. He also won the triple jump with a jump of 14.80m, nearly breaking his own school record but climbing into seventh nationally. On the women's side, Finn took second in the long jump (5.57m) and Chloe Studinski placed third in the high jump (1.50m).
 
UP NEXT
Ripon rounds out the regular season next Friday (May 2) as the Red Hawks head to Lawrence for the Fox River Showdown.
