Red Hawks Take Second and Third at Viking Olympics; Finn Sets High Jump Meet Record

ROCK ISLAND, Illinois – The Ripon track and field programs competed as a full squad for the first time this outdoor season on Saturday, producing a number of standout performances at 80th annual Viking Olympics on the campus of Augustana College.
 
As a team, the women came in second place while the men took third.
 
Bridget Finn had the highlight of the meet for Ripon, setting a meet record and equaling a season-best with a 1.63m mark in the high jump. Winning the event, she produced the eighth-best high jump in all of Division III so far this season. She also won the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:06.99.
 
Gabby Allard cracked the top-45 nationally in the 3000m steeplechase, winning the event in 11:34.22 as her teammate Kiki Sherman took second in 12:03.48. Jenny Cortes (4:48.68) and Joley Berger (4:56.08) went 2-3 in the 1500 to highlight Ripon's depth, while Cortes (2:23.50) and Minnie Hoffman (2:25.51) went 1-2 for the Red Hawks in the 800.
 
To finish the track portion on the women's side, the 4x400 relay team of Finn, Heleyna Weiss, Madylyn Woyak and Tatum Trudell placed second in 4:11.88.
 
On the men's side, Jacob Davies paced the 400 field with a top time of 49.71. Christian Kuwaye took third in the 3000m steeplechase (9:49.91) while Rainier Villanueva (4:03.84) took third in the 1500. Villanueva also took second in the 800, crossing the tape in 1:58.94. The men's 4x400 relay quartet of Davies, Finley Manning, Adisun Romprey and Seth Bunders placed second with a time of 3:28.79.
 
Finn wasn't the only Red Hawk to do well in the high jump as Chloe Studinski finished third (1.53m). Also in field events, Ben Fisher took second in the high jump (1.85m) and Sidney Hoffa (5.20m) took second in the long jump.
 
In the men's long jump, Logan Vander Galien placed second with a 6.50m mark. Noah Hanson had a standout performance in the shot put, taking third with a toss of 14.19m.
