JACKSONVILLE, Ill. -- The Ripon College men's soccer team opened Midwest Conference play on the road Saturday afternoon, falling 5-0 to Illinois College.
The Blueboys struck first in the opening half, scoring early to take a 1-0 lead into halftime. Illinois College then broke the game open in the second half with four more goals.
Ripon's offense found more rhythm after the break, recording all five of their shots in the second half, including on target attempts from freshman
Brodie Hoth (Fleming Island, Fla., Fleming Island HS) and junior
Thomas Geocaris (Green Bay, Wis., Notre Dame Academy). Junior goalkeeper
Drew Seyfer (Thiensville, Wis., Homestead HS) tallied eight saves as Illinois College finished with a 21-5 advantage in shots and a 13-2 edge in shots on goal.
The loss drops Ripon to 0-1 in conference play, with the team looking to regroup on Wednesday, Oct 1, at 7:30 pm when they take on Cornell College at home.
