APPLETON, Wis. -- Ripon College track and field athletes turned in a strong week of competition across multiple meets, highlighted by solid finishes in both distance and field events as the Red Hawks continue building momentum late in the outdoor season.
In recent action, Ripon athletes delivered a balanced effort across sprints, distance, and field events. On the women's side, sophomore Joley Berger (Dunbar, Wis., Pembine HS) continued her standout season in the 10,000 meters, placing fifth in 36:39.40, while junior Mya Garcia (Chino Hills, Calif., Brea Olinda HS) also competed in the event. In the 1500 meters, senior Jenny Cortes (Round Lake, Ill., Round Lake HS) led Ripon with a seventh-place finish (4:40.81), and junior Minnie Hoffman (Oostburg, Wis., Oostburg HS) added a third-place finish in the 800 meters (2:23.04). Freshman Leah Page (Ripon, Wis., Ripon HS) and sophomore Gracie Steffes (Mazon, Ill., Seneca HS) also contributed strong mid-distance efforts, finishing fourth (5:09.23) and sixth (5:15.20), respectively, in the 1500 meters. On the track, junior Madylyn Woyak (Wautoma, Wis., Wautoma HS) ran 59.54 in the 400 meters, while sophomore Tatum Trudell (Albany, Ore., South Albany HS) posted a 26.05 in the 200 meters.
In the field events, junior Chloe Studinski (Oshkosh, Wis., Lourdes Academy) highlighted the women's group with a fourth-place finish in the high jump (1.60m). Senior Nicole Arnold (Hampton, N.Y. ,Granville HS) added a fourth-place finish in the triple jump (9.92m), and also competed in the javelin. Sophomore Hannah Michaels (Waukesha, Wis., Waukesha North HS) contributed across multiple events, including a seventh-place finish in the shot put (10.08m) and a third-place finish in the hammer throw (38.47m). Junior Sidney Hoffa (Coloma, Wis., Westfield Area HS) placed 16th in the long jump (5.15m).
On the men's side, junior Adisun Romprey (Pearson, Wis., Wabeno HS) and freshman Parker Blakeslee (Sterling, Ill., Sterling HS) highlighted the sprint group at the Lawrence meet, finishing second (52.00) and third (52.54) in the 400 meters. In distance events, freshman Michael Corral Rascon (Aurora, Colo., Vista Peak Preparatory) led Ripon in the 1500 meters with a time of 4:09.83. In the steeplechase, sophomore Jaxon Hornby (Marshall, Wis., Marshall HS; 9:41.25) and senior Jeremy Saloun (Portage, Wis., Portage HS; 10:03.44) represented the Red Hawks.
Ripon also saw contributions in relays and additional event areas as athletes continued to gain experience and improve marks across the board.
The Red Hawks will now turn their attention to their next competition, as they travel to De Pere for the Green Knight Invitational on Saturday, April 25.
