WAUKESHA, Wis. - In the 116-year history of Ripon's men's basketball program, no one has scored 1,000 career points faster than sophomore guard
Ty Sabin. He accomplished that feat Wednesday night in an 82-72 victory at Carroll University, becoming the 29th Ripon player to reach that milestone in what was just his 43rd career game.
With 31 points against the Pioneers, Sabin now has 1,024 for his career, which ranks 27th in program history. The Exercise Science major from New Berlin, Wis. currently leads the NCAA, across all divisions, in scoring with 29.2 points per game. With four games left in the regular season, Sabin already ranks seventh in school history for single season points with 554, and is on pace to break Ripon's 37-year-old single season scoring record of 697 points, set during the 1977-78 season by Lud Wurtz '78.
In addition to his scoring prowess, Sabin is shooting 55 percent from the floor, 44 percent from 3-point range, and 90 percent from the free throw line.He is also averaging 3.9 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game.
