WINTER HAVEN, Fla. -
Ripon continued its slate of Florida games Sunday afternoon, as they dropped both games of a doubleheader to Ramapo (N.J.) College. The Red Hawks were edged in the first game 6-5, before losing the nightcap by a score of 7-4.

Ripon (0-3) started the game out on the right foot, scoring once in both the first and second innings. Michael Polcyn got the team on the board with a sacrifice fly, allowing Tom Sawyer to score. Sam Waters then led off the second with a single and later scored on a wild pitch.

That lead lasted until the bottom of the second when Ramapo (3-1) plated three runs on a trio of RBI singles. The Roadrunners scored three more runs in the fourth on a two-run single and another run scoring base knock.

Ripon mounted a comeback in the final innings, scoring once in thefifth on an RBI double by Polcyn and twice in the sixth on a pair of bases loaded walks. That would be all the runs they could muster as they left one runner on base in the final inning.

The Red Hawks finished with 10 hits in the game, with two apiece coming off the bat of Sawyer, Polcyn and Waters. Tom Fish (0-1) suffered the loss, allowing six runs in five innings of work.

In the second game, Ripon again scored first, thanks to a Polcyn RBI single in the bottom of the first, which brought Sawyer around to score. Nick Schmitt then scored Polcyn with an RBI double.

Ramapo tied the score with a run in the second and another in the third, before taking the lead with a four-spot in the fourth inning. Those four runs scored on a pair of doubles and a throwing error.

The Roadrunners added a run in the fifth on another Ripon error to make the score 7-2. The Red Hawks added another run in the fifth and scored once more in the seventh, both of which were driven in by Schmitt, but it wasn't enough.

Sawyer finished the game 3-for-4 with three runs scored to raise his season average to .727. Schmitt added a pair of hits and three RBI, while Polcyn also recorded two base knocks. Marshall Zahn (0-1) suffered the loss, allowing five eanred runs in four innings, while striking out three batters.

Monday's game against Fontbonne University was canceled due to rain, so Ripon will be in action again on Tuesday in a doubleheader against Amherst College, beginning at 10 a.m. ET in Lakeland, Fla.
