Game 1 Box Score
Game 2 Box Score

AUBURNDALE, Fla. -
Ripon's baseball team ended their Florida trip in style on Friday, with a pair of wins over fellow Midwest Conference school, Grinnell College. The Red Hawks defeated the Pioneers 11-0 in the first game, before also winning the second by a score of 3-1.

Despite the 11 runs they scored in the first game, all the damage came in only two innings. Ripon (3-7) got on the board with five runs in the third, which was aided by two errors from Grinnell (4-5). The inning was highlighted by a two-run single from Mitchell Busch and an RBI single by Nate Siudak.

The rest of the damage came in the seventh and final inning, which saw Ripon use just two hits to score six runs. Grinnell walked four batters in the inning, with the big blow coming from Busch, who connected on a grand slam for his first home run of the season.

The Red Hawks scored their 11 runs on just six hits. Busch finished the game 2-for-4 with six RBI, which is tied for eighth in school history for a single game. Dakotah Kirchenwitz added two hits in his three at-bats. Marshall Zahn (1-1) pitched a complete game shutout, allowing just three hits, while striking out four and walking one.

The second game also saw Ripon jump on the board first, as they scored two runs in the bottom of the first on a sacrifice fly by Michael Polcyn and an RBI single by Siudak. Nick Schmitt drove in Ripon's other run with a sac fly in the second, scoring Jake Reinke on the play. Grinnell scored on a sac fly in the fourth, but that was all the offense the Pioneers could muster.

Reinke, Siudak and Schmitt all led Ripon with two hits apiece. Matt Hecht (1-1) earned the win, allowing one run on four hits, while striking out three in five innings of work.

Ripon will now return to Wisconsin where they are scheduled to play at Lakeland College on Wednesday. That doubleheader is set for 1 p.m. in Plymouth, Wis.
