RIPON, Wis. -Â The Ripon women's swim team extended their hospitality Friday afternoon for a home dual meet against Carroll University. The Red Hawks lost to Carroll 127-74, despite four first-place finishes.Emma Goral won two events, finishing first in the 200 IM (2:20.57) and 500 freestyle (5:31.52), finishing ahead of the second-place time by five and 20 seconds, respectively. Also winning an event were
Hannah Metz in the 200 freestyle (2:06.82) and
Winona Holmes-Robbins in the 100 butterfly (1:03.33). Metz and Holmes-Robbins also took home a second-place finish in the 100 freestyle (58.33) and 100 backstroke (1:04.89), respectively.
Gabby Horstmeier added a pair of top-three finishes, placing second in the 100 breaststroke (1:16.22) and third in the 500 freestyle (5:55.01).
Lateesha Hiser also chipped in with a second-place finish in the 50 freestyle (25.94), while
Sierra Landholm was third in the 1000 freestyle (14:42.59). In the relay competition, Ripon's 400 medley team of Holmes-Robbins, Horstmeier, Goral, and Metz finished second with a time of 4:16.27, which was less than two seconds shy of first place.
The Red Hawks will take a break from competition next weekend before getting back in the pool on January 31 at the Wisconsin Private College Championships, hosted by Carthage College in Kenosha, Wis.Â
