Box Score WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - After a couple days of Ripon's bats being very alive, they died down on Monday, as Anderson University defeated the Red Hawks, 6-0.,The Red Hawks managed six hits on the day, but couldn't string them together, leaving seven men on base. Anderson left nine on base, but also pounded out 13 hits.
The game was scoreless for the first four innings, with Anderson (6-3) getting on the board in the top of the fifth on an RBI single up the middle. The Ravens added two more runs in the sixth on a sacrifice fly and another RBI single, while scoring once more in the seventh on another sac fly. They scored two more insurance runs in the eighth on a throwing error and yet another sac fly.
Jake Reinke registered half of the hits for the Red Hawks (2-2) with a 3-for-4 performance at the plate, while
Josh Oswald was 2-for-4, and
Nick Kita also recorded one hit.
Matt Hecht (0-1) suffered the loss, allowing four runs on 10 hits and striking out five in seven innings of work.
Ripon will try to redeem themselves on Tuesday when they'll play a doubleheader against William Paterson, with the first game beginning at 1 p.m. ET. Those two games will be played at Warner University.
