RIPON, Wis. - The Ripon men's swim team began their 2016-17 season on a positive note Saturday afternoon, defeating Loras College 96-93. The Red Hawks garnered six first-place finishes during the meet, including one in relay competition.
Jack Lutter and
Andy Paloumpis each recorded two first-place finishes. Lutter won both the 200 IM and 100 butterfly with times of 2:10.66 and 57.30, respectively. Paloumpis earned his wins in the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle with times of 1:53.90 and 5:43.02, respectively. Those two were also on Ripon's 200 freestyle relay, along with
Alec Sutton and
Nate Pakosz, which won the event with a time of 1:33.77.Â
Antony Gradillas earned the team's other first-place finish, winning the 1000 freestyle with a time of 11:54.83.
The Red Hawks will be in action again next weekend when they'll travel to Lawrence University. That dual meet will begin at 1 p.m. in Appleton, Wis.
