GRINNELL, Iowa - The Midwest Conference released its Softball All-Conference teams Tuesday morning, with two Ripon players recognized on the list. Senior
Micaela Encarnacion earned the honor as an outfielder, while Sophomore
Abby Gilbertson made the MWC North team as an at-large selection.
Encarnacion is making her second career appearance on the All-Conference team after earning a spot on the squad as a freshman. A native of Hoffman Estates, Ill., Encarnacion led the Red Hawks in virtually every category this season, batting .345 with 13 doubles, four triples, 15 RBI, and 22 runs scored. She currently ranks seventh in program history for career hits (119), sixth in runs scored (73), sixth in doubles (24), fifth in triples (7), and 10th in home runs (4).
Originally from Marquette, Wis., Gilbertson is making her first-ever appearance on the MWC's All-Conference team, while primarily playing the role of Designated Player for most of the season. She finished the season batting .311 with six doubles, one home run, and 13 RBI, which was third on the team. In the 13 conference games Gilbertson played, she stepped up her game even more, batting .412 with four doubles, one home run, and seven RBI.
