Ripon Athletics Hall of Fame To Add Three New Members

RIPON, Wis. - On Friday, August 6, Ripon College will expand its Athletics Hall of Fame to 171 members, with the addition of its three newest inductees, Nate Kok '01, Nick Beaman '11, and Scott Gillespie '11. After a one year hiatus due to COVID-19, the ceremony will once again be a part of Ripon's Alumni Weekend and the 1851 Awards reception, which will begin at 5 p.m. in Great Hall of the Harwood Memorial Union on the campus of Ripon College. Tickets to the reception are $40 per person and are available for purchase at alumni.ripon.edu/alumni-weekend

Nate Kok '01 was a four-year starter on Ripon's football team, with his career culminating with Consensus First Team All-American and First Team All-Conference honors as a Senior. That year saw Kok produce one of the greatest seasons by a defensive back in NCAA Division-III history when he recorded a single season school and conference record 13 interceptions, which ranks third in D-III history. Kok is tied for Ripon's single game record with three interceptions in one contest, while his 16 career INTs ranked fourth in school history at the time of his graduation. He also served as Team Captain and was named Team Defensive Most Valuable Player.

Kok currently is vice president of commercial banking with Hometown Bank in Appleton, Wis. He is a board member of the Neenah Girls Basketball Club, a coach for Neenah Little League Baseball and Neenah Boys Hoops Club and a past coach of Neenah Girls Hoops Club. He is also a member and past president of the Rotary Club of Neenah and served his term limit on the Neenah Rotary Foundation Board of Directors. At Ripon College, Kok majored in economics, minored in mathematics and is currently a member of the Red Hawks Club. A native of Brandon, Wis. he now lives in Neenah, Wis. with his wife, Melissa, and their three children, Sophia, Ava and Griffin.

Nick Beaman '11 is one of the greatest hitters in Ripon College baseball history. A four-time First Team All-Conference selection, Beaman also was named All-Region four times, earning First Team honors in each of his final three seasons. Beaman still holds school records for career hits (231) and batting average (.414), while also ranking second in triples (9), Runs Batted In (169) and total bases (384), third in home runs (30), fifth in doubles (45) and sixth in runs scored (144). With Beaman in the middle of the lineup, Ripon won two MWC Championships, advancing to the NCAA Tournament in each of his final two seasons with the Red Hawks.

Beaman currently works as a patrol deputy with the Winnebago County Sheriff's Office in Wisconsin. He is also a member of the Winnebago County Special Weapons and Tactics Team. At Ripon College, Beaman majored in exercise science with a minor in leadership studies. He resides in his hometown of Oshkosh, Wis. with his wife Lacey Fenrich Beaman '12 and their daughter Murphie.

Scott Gillespie '11 was a four-time All-Conference selection for Ripon's men's basketball team, earning First Team honors in each of his final three seasons while playing for his father, fellow Ripon Hall of Famer Bob Gillespie. Scott's career culminated as a senior when he was selected as the 2011 MWC Player of the Year and Second Team All-American. He also was a three-time All-Region selection, making the First Team as a Senior. The school record holder for career assists (602), Gillespie ranked third and second in Division-III for assists per game during his final two seasons, respectively. He graduated with the most points in program history (1,871), averaging 19.8 ppg during his career. Gillespie also played one year of baseball for his father, batting .244 with five doubles, two home runs, 17 Runs Batted In, and 17 runs scored as a freshman.

Gillespie currently serves as assistant women's basketball coach at Illinois State University. He received the Women's Basketball Coaches Association 30 under 30 Award in 2019, recognizing the best 30 coaches under 30 years old. A double major in communication and business administration, Gillespie was a member of Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) at Ripon College. He received a master of business administration degree from the University of Memphis. Originally from Ripon, Wis., Gillespie lives in Bloomington, Ill. with his wife Lindsey, and their daughters Lola (2), and Vera, born May 1.
