DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Ripon College men's swimming team lost a closely contested dual meet at Loras College by a score of 106-97 Saturday in the season-opening meet.
The quartet of
Cooper Herr,
Ben Rahlf,
Ethan Brannen and
Aliber Garcia claimed a victory in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:45.04.
The 1,000-yard freestyle was won by
Brigham Freeman in a time of 11:07.62.
In the third event, Herr won his second event of the day with a mark of 1:53.41 in the 200-yard freestyle.
Ben Chambers picked up a win in the 50-yard free (22.92) while Garcia and
Miki Canak were fourth and fifth, respectively. Late in the afternoon, Chambers touched first, this time in the 100-yard backstroke (58.35). His third win of the meet came in the 100-yard breaststroke. Chambers won the event in 1:04.81.
Rahlf garnered a victory in the 200-yard IM after touching the wall in 2:13.65. Moments later, Rahlf claimed the 100-yard fly in 56.26.
Herr picked up another victory on the day after hitting the wall in 50.02 in the 100-yard freestyle.
The Red Hawks return to action Oct. 22 against Lawrence in the team's home opener. Action is slated to begin at 11:30 a.m.
