RIPON, Wis. – The Ripon College men's swimming & diving team cruised to a 107-40 victory over Beloit Saturday afternoon.
The Red Hawks are now 1-2 on the season.
Ripon College got things going with a victory in the first race of the day. Cooper Herr, Ben Chambers, Ben Rahlf and Brigham Freeman combined for the 200-yard medley relay win after posting a time of 1:41.13 – two seconds better than Beloit.
Chambers' time of 1:53.00 was good enough for the title in the 200-yard freestyle. He won the race by nearly two seconds. Herr claimed the 50-yard freestyle title after touching in 22.855.
Freeman and Ethan Brannen were the top finishers in the 200-yard IM. Freeman won the race in 2:11.91 while Brannen finished in 2:20.49.
Rahlf garnered the win in the 200-yard butterfly, reaching for the wall in 2:07.19.
Chambers' solid day continued in the 100-yard freestyle, winning the event with a time of 50.16.
Herr and Miki Canak went one-two in the 200-yard backstroke. Herr finished in 2:13.38 while Canak claimed a time of 2:23.02 for second place.
Freeman's mark of 5:13.64 bested his counterpart by 50 seconds in the 500-yard freestyle.
Chambers, Rahlf, Freeman and Herr combined for a time of 1:30.65, garnering the win by over five seconds in the 200-yard freestyle to wrap up the meet.
The Red Hawks return to action Saturday, Nov. 12, when they compete in the Gene Davis Invitational at 1 p.m.
