Season Bests Recorded at SNC Invite

DE PERE, Wis. – On Saturday the Red Hawks traveled to St. Norbert College for the SNC Invite as one school record was re-set and 32 season best performances were turned in.

Freshman Cade Gray continues to raise the bar on his outdoor Pole Vault school record, this time clearing 15'3.5 (4.66m).  That clearance ranks him second currently in the Midwest Conference and 31st nationally in NCAA DIII.

Another all-time performance was turned in for the men, as freshman Jacoby Cefalu ran to a collegiate PR in the 100m dash of 11.13 seconds into a -0.4 m/s headwind to finish second overall.  That performance ranks ninth all-time at Ripon and moves him up to fifth currently in the MWC.

In addition to Gray and Cefalu, the men recorded six other top-3 finishes on the day.  Junior Nathaniel Wosmek made his 400m Hurdle debut nearly running on the top-10 all-time list, as he finished third with a time of 59.37 seconds.  Freshman Rainier Villanueva ran a lifetime best in the 1500m to finish third in a time of 4:11.69.  Freshman steeplechaser Christian Kuwaye finished third amongst collegians in that event running 10:39.04, while Sam Forstner and David Potter finished second and third in the 5000m with times of 15:49.44 and 15:52.87.  Also in the distance events, sophomore Ben Hildebrand finished second in the 3000m with a time of 10:39.82.

The women were led by freshman Alison Denamur in the 3000m as she took the event title with a time of 11:38.68.  Junior Bridget Finn finished third in the High Jump tying her season best height of 4'9 (1.45m).  Rounding out the top-3 finishers on the women's side was a pair of performances in the throwing events, as Kalyn Otzelberger finished third in the Shot Put with a toss of 37'9.5 (11.52m) and Kaelyn Flairty finished second in the Javelin, just off of her personal best with a throw of 103'8 (31.61m).

Back on Friday, junior school-record holder Mikayla Flyte traveled to UW-Whitewater to compete in a competitive field in the 5,000m.  Flyte ran to a lifetime best to finish third overall with a time of 18:18.64 which ranks second all-time in school history and is less than eight seconds off of the school record.

The Red Hawks will have one more weekend of competition as they are set to host the Red Hawk Spring Showdown at Ingalls Field on May 7, before competing at the 2022 Midwest Conference Outdoor Championships May 13-14, hosted by Beloit College.  On May 7, field events will begin at 11:00 am with running events beginning at noon.
