RIPON, Wisconsin –
Sam Forstner and
Alison Denamur of the Ripon cross country programs have been named the Midwest Conference Performers of the Week as announced by the league on Tuesday.
This is the third time in 2023 that Ripon has swept both MWC Performer of the Week awards.
Mikayla Flyte and Forstner were honored on September 19, while Denamur and
Matt Seeber tabbed awards on September 26.
Forstner was his usually dominant self on Saturday, winning the Gene Davis Invite with a 24:54.3 showing to help the Ripon men win the team title in Appleton for the first time ever. Forstner's time was a new course record and helped the senior win his second career meet, with both coming in the last five weeks.
For the second consecutive meet, Denamur was the top runner for Ripon on the women's side, earning a third-place finish with a time of 22:42.2 to help Ripon win the Gene Davis Invite for the second consecutive season. The junior finished nearly four seconds ahead of Cristyn Oliver, the defending Midwest Conference individual champion. In four meets this season, Denamur has earned two third-place finishes and three top-five performances.
This is the fourth career weekly honor for Forstner, who was previously recognized on September 27, 2022 and October 11, 2022. This is the second MWC Performer of the Week honor for Denamur.
Ripon returns to action on Saturday (October 14) for the Jim Drews Invitational in West Salem hosted by UW-La Crosse. Racing on Saturday begins at 11:20 a.m.
