GREEN BAY, Wis. – The Ripon College men's tennis team dropped an 8-1 contest to Saint Mary's Saturday afternoon.
The Red Hawks are now 0-2 on the season.
The duo of
CJ Counts and Caleb Slippel picked up the team's lone point in the match at No. 1 doubles. The squad bested the tandem of Evan Huemeller and E.J. Hietala by an 8-5 score.
Playing at the No. 1 singles spot Slippel lost the first set 6-4 before bouncing back to take the second stanza 6-3. However, his opposition prevailed 10-5 in the tiebreaker.
Counts squared off against Hietala at the No. 2 spot. Although both sets were close, Counts was unable to pull off the win in the 6-4, 6-3 loss.
Austin Stevens saw time at the No. 3 slot. He lost by a 6-2, 6-2 count.
Ty Rondestvedt fell 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 4 singles position.

Steve Burns' team returns to action tomorrow when they play at Concordia (Wis.) at 2:30 p.m.
