GREENWOOD, Ind. - College Sports Communicators announced the full list of 2023 Academic All-District honorees for baseball on Tuesday, with four Ripon players garnering recognition. The organization, formerly known as CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
Two-way player
Brock Warren, outfielders
Cormac Madigan and
Remington Cox and relief pitcher Orien Reiden represented the Red Hawks on the Academic All-District team. The 2023 season saw Ripon tally the program's most wins since 2019, post a 15-9 mark in Midwest Conference play and go 10-2 on their home turf.
Warren, an undeclared sophomore from Wausau, turned in a stellar season for the Red Hawks, leading the team in average (.418), doubles (11), runs (42) and steals (23). He also made 11 appearances on the mound, including 10 starts, finishing as the team leader in strikeouts (40) and innings pitched (55.2).
A finance major and native of Homewood, Ill., Cox hit .299 as a sophomore while picking up 24 RBI and stealing five bases in six attempts. He put up impressive numbers in the back end of a doubleheader on April 5, going 4-for-5 at the plate with a triple, two homers and a career-high six RBI to lead the way in a 28-2 rout of Lawrence.
Rieden had his strongest performance of the season the same day, as the junior business management major struck out three batters to record 1.1 perfect innings of work en route his first save of the year. A native of Neenah, Rieden produced four scoreless outings and went unbeaten in his ten games out of the Ripon bullpen.
Madigan, no stranger to awards after being
named the Division III Football Team Member of the Year last fall, makes another appearance on the CSC Academic All-District list. A chemistry-biology major in his senior season, Madigan clipped .250 for the Red Hawks this spring, driving in 15 runs and going 15-for-18 in stolen bases attempts.
