RIPON, Wisconsin – Senior Sam Forstner of the Ripon men's cross country has been named the Midwest Conference Performer of the Week as announced by the league on Tuesday afternoon.
 
Forstner had a standout performance at the Gill Dodds Invitational on Saturday at the event hosted by Wheaton College. His 8K personal record of 25:18 earned him a 15th-place finish in a race of 294 athletes. He helped the Red Hawks take 8th place at the meet – their best-ever performance at the Gill Dodds Invitational.
 
This is the third career MWC Performer of the Week honor for the Wisconsin Rapids native, who previously was recognized on September 27, 2022 and October 11, 2022.
 
Both the men's and women's cross country teams will be in action on Saturday, September 23 for the Pioneer Gender Equity Invite at 11 a.m. The meet is hosted by UW-Platteville.
