Forstner Wins Tom Barry Invitational as Red Hawk Men and Women Place in Top Three

GREEN BAY, Wisconsin – Sam Forstner won the first race of his collegiate career while a pair of Ripon women took second and third in a strong showing for the Red Hawks at the Tom Barry Invitational hosted by St. Norbert College on Saturday morning.
 
Forstner's time of 18:50 was over nine seconds ahead of the second-place finisher.
 
Mikayla Flyte took second place with an 18:54.8 showing, while teammate Ali Denamur came in third after sporting a 19:05.5 time. She was nine seconds ahead of the fourth-place finisher.
 
As a team, the Ripon women took second place out of 10 teams with 68 points – tied for its best finish ever at the Tom Barry Invitational. The Red Hawks were tied with St. Norbert for the second-most runners inside the top-20. Concordia University Wisconsin came in first with 51 points.

The men came in third among a competitive 11-team field. Ripon garnered 72 points on the day, while UW-Green Bay came in first with 31. Milwaukee School of Engineering finished just ahead of the Red Hawks with 66 points.
 
Elsewhere on the men's side, Matt Seeber took seventh with a time of 19:30.2. Junior Rainier Villanueva was 13th, clocking in at 19:48.0.
 
Not far behind Flyte and Denamur in the women's race was sophomore Jenny Cortes, who just finished outside of the top 10. She took 11th place with a time of 20:01.8. Isabelle Willett was the Red Hawks' fourth top-20 finisher, taking 20th in 20:31.7.

In addition to Forstner, Flyte, Denamur, Seeber, Villanueva, Willett and Cortes, 11 Red Hawks set personal records: Nadia Konesko (21:34), Maya Thompson (21:57), Bridget Finn (22:37), Christian Kuwaye (20:18), RJ Olson (20:31), Jamar Thomas (20:30), Jake Budd (21:00), Jeremy Saloun (20:53), Adrian Baquera (22:17), Sam Trzebiatowski (21:43) and Jacob Jumbeck (21:32).
