RIPON, Wisconsin – Two members of the Ripon men's basketball program have been named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team as announced by CSC on Tuesday.
Jayden Fitch and
William Ryan were first-time honorees for their work on the court and in the classroom.
To be eligible for academic all-district honors, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or above while playing in 90% or starting in 60% of their team's competitions in the season.
Fitch, a junior business management major from Fall Creek, Wisconsin, made an impact off the bench in his first season as a Red Hawk. He played in 24 games and shot 48.4% from the field (46-of-95), averaging 4.3 points per game and 3.6 rebounds per contest.
Ryan, a senior political science major from Northfield, Illinois, played in 25 out of a possible 26 games and made 12 starts, logging over 18 minutes per game. He averaged 4.7 points per game, 2.8 rebounds per game and was second on the team with 37 steals. Ryan was also fourth on the team in assists, dishing out 29.
Ripon finished the season 11-15 overall, but 9-7 in Midwest Conference play and advanced to the semifinals of the Midwest Conference Tournament – ending the regular season winning nine of its last 12 games and five of the final six. There, the Red Hawks fell to top-seeded and eventual tournament champion Illinois College, 72-68.
