GREEN BAY, Wisconsin – Jenny Cortes of the Ripon women's cross country program posted a top-five finish to highlight the Red Hawks' return to racing on Saturday at the Tom Barry Invitational hosted by St. Norbert College at the Sherwood Cross Country Course.
Cortes came in fourth place overall, and second among Division III runners, with a time of 19:30.5. In the process, the junior produced the eighth-fastest 5K time in Ripon women's cross country history.
Also on the women's side,
Minnie Hoffman came in 29th with a time of 21:06.0, while
Joley Berger placed 43rd in 21:51.0 in her first collegiate race.
In the men's 6K race,
Rainier Villaneuva led Ripon with an 18th place finish, clocking in at 20:14.9. Two other Red Hawks earned top-50 finishes:
Jeremy Saloun took 40th in 21:00.2, while
Jamar Thomas placed 49th in 21:14.8.
As a team, the Ripon women took sixth and the men came in seventh.
