RIPON, Wisconsin – After winning both the Midwest Conference regular season and tournament titles for the second consecutive season, three members of the NCAA Tournament-bound Ripon women's basketball program have received All-Midwest Conference honors as announced by the league on Tuesday.
Ella Ten Pas repeated as both the Midwest Conference Player of the Year and a first team selection, while sophomore
Laney Havlovitz was another first team choice and freshman
Halle Van Horn was named to the second team. Additionally, Ripon's coaching staff of
Lauren Busalacchi,
Dave Johnson,
Megan Plantz,
Owen Theune,
Troy McDonald and
Cam Plantz has been named the MWC Coaching Staff of the Year for the sixth consecutive season.
This is the second instance in program history where Ripon housed the MWC Player of the Year in back-to-back seasons, and first since Janine Emmer and Karalyn Dehn were recognized in 2004-05 and 2005-06, respectively.
Busalacchi is the only women's basketball coach in league history to be named coach or coaching staff of the year for six consecutive seasons.
Ten Pas picked up right where she left off last season, becoming one of the most decorated women's basketball players in program history. The two-time MWC Player of the Year has set the Ripon school record for single-season rebounds in her only two seasons as a Red Hawk, and is in the top-15 across Midwest Conference stats in a number of categories: scoring (fourth at 14.1 ppg), rebounding (second at 10.4 per game), free throw percentage (ninth at 66.5%), assists (12th with 53), blocks (third with 37) and minutes (12th at 27.9 per game). The Oostburg, Wisconsin native set the Ripon school record with her 24th career double-double against Cornell on February 28 – doing so in only two years. She has scored at least 10 points in 23 games this season and has 15 games of at least 10 rebounds.
Havlovitz has been the floor general for Ripon's most successful team in school history. The sophomore's 102 assists in 2024-25 are fourth-most in school history, and just five away from tying the school record. Her 64 steals are also tied for fourth in program history. The Wild Rose, Wisconsin native leads the MWC in assists and steals, is fourth in assist/turnover ratio (1.1), seventh in minutes (29.8 per game), seventh in free throw percentage (68.8%), 15th in scoring (10.0 ppg) and 23rd in rebounding (4.1 per game). She has recorded two-plus assists in 16 consecutive games and has scored in double figures 15 times.
Van Horn burst onto the scene as a freshman, coming off the bench until her first start on December 14. The Fredonia, Wisconsin native is 20th in the MWC in scoring (9.2 ppg), ninth in rebounding (6.6 per game) and fifth in blocks (31). She has six games of 10+ rebounds and 11 games of 10+ points.
