FOND Du LAC, Wis. - In what was one of the most competitive matches of the season, the Ripon men's tennis team lost to Wisconsin Lutheran, 5-4. The Red Hawks won two matches in both doubles and singles play.

In doubles competition, Eric Sieler teamed up with Connor Greenwald at the top flight to win 8-5. The number two flight team of Ryan Slowinski and Brian Schumacher were also victorious, winning 9-7. Ripon's third flight of Tyler Hopewell and Anders Goodwin almost pulled off the doubles sweep for the Red Hawks (1-8), but lost in a tiebreaker.

In singles play, Seiler and Hopewell each earned a team point for the Red Hawks. Seiler won his number one match 7-6, 3-6, 10-6, while Hopewell won at the number five flight 6-4, 6-0.

Ripon will be in action again on Saturday when they'll face Knox College at 3 p.m. in Fond du Lac, Wis.
