Red Hawks Lose Two Matches Saturday

The Ripon men's tennis team played two matches Saturday, losing both, as they fell to Knox and University of Dubuque by team scores of 6-3 and 7-2, respectively. That drops Ripon's season record to 1-6.

Against Knox, Ripon's winning flights came at numbers one, two and six singles. Eric Seiler won at number one, 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (13-11), while Ryan Long and Lincoln Wurtz were victorious at the second and sixth flights with scores of 5-7, 6-3, 1-0 (10-6) and 6-3, 6-0, respectively.

In Ripon's second match of the day, the Red Hawks lost to Dubuque 7-2, with Ripon's two team points coming from freshmen Wurtz and Jeffrey Grinde. Wurtz won at number four singles, 6-2, 6-1, while Grinde was victorious at the sixth singles flight, 6-4, 6-0.

The Red Hawks will be in action again next weekend when they'll travel to DePere, Wis. to take on Grinnell and St. Norbert on Saturday at 2 and 5 p.m., respectively.
