Red Hawks Earn Victory Over Lakeland

After several close matches over the last few weeks, the Ripon men's tennis team snapped a nine-match losing streak Saturday with a 7-2 victory over Lakeland College. Ripon won five of their six singles matches, while also winning two of three matches in doubles play.

Three of Ripon's five singles victories came by scores of 6-0, 6-0, as Eric Seiler, Jeffrey Grinde and Nick Julian did the honors at numbers one, five and six, respectively. Lincoln Wurtz added a 6-2, 6-2 victory at number two singles, while Ryan Slowinski was victorious at the second flight, 7-6 (6), 4-6, 10-3.

In doubles play, Seiler and Slowinski teamed up to win 8-2 at the top flight, while Wurtz and Grinde won their number three doubles match by an identical score.

Ripon (2-10) will try to build on this victory on Wednesday at Carroll University. That match will begin at 4 p.m. in Waukesha, Wis.
